WHAT IS THE MMOHO SRH HELPLINE?
The way Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues are in South Africa right now threatens young people's SRHR, especially young women.
Launched on World AIDS Day (1 December 2023), the mmoho Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Helpline plays a big role in providing access to SRH services, especially safe abortion services. It connects young people with their nearest SRH facilities.
WHY LAUNCH AN SRH HELPLINE?
Young people face many barriers when accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, especially safe and legal termination of pregnancy (TOP) services. This poses a larger issues because there aren’t many helplines with comprehensive SRH referral services.
The mmoho SRH toll-free helpline aims to provide essential SRH information and direct young people to the nearest SRH facilities. The mmoho SRH Helpline is one of the few helplines that provide TOP referrals.
